Shots Fired at Bollywood Director Rohit Shetty’s Juhu Residence; Four Arrested

In a shocking incident, multiple gunshots were fired at Bollywood filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s upscale residence in Juhu, Mumbai, in the early hours of Sunday. While no one was injured, the attack has triggered a major police investigation and the arrest of four suspects with possible links to an organized crime gang.

Timeline of the Attack

Around 12:45 AM, unidentified assailants on a motorcycle fired five rounds at the exterior of Shetty Tower on Hasya Kalakar Mehmood Chowk. Bullet marks were found on a wall and balcony glass, but Shetty, his family, and security staff inside were unharmed. The director immediately alerted the police.

Swift Police Action and Arrests

Using CCTV footage and vehicle tracking, Mumbai Police traced leads to Pune, where four suspects were arrested:

  • Aditya Gayaki (19)

  • Siddharth Yenpure (20)

  • Swapnil Sakat (23)

  • Samarth Pomaji (18)

They have been remanded to police custody until February 5. A fifth individual was served a notice for questioning.

Possible Gang Connection and Motive

Investigators are probing a possible link to the Lawrence Bishnoi organized crime gang. A social media message from an account attributed to gang associate Shubham Lonkar claimed responsibility, calling the incident a “trailer” and issuing threats. Police note that Shetty had not reported any prior extortion demands. The Bishnoi gang has been linked to previous attacks on high-profile figures, including a 2024 shooting outside Salman Khan’s residence.

Industry Reaction and Security Response

The Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) condemned the attack, calling it “deeply disturbing.” Security around Shetty’s home has been significantly increased. Shetty has reportedly asked friends and colleagues to avoid visits while the investigation is active.

Ongoing Investigation

An FIR has been registered under the Arms Act. Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch is examining forensic evidence, digital footprints, and over a hundred CCTV recordings. The motive—whether personal, professional, or gang-related—remains under intense scrutiny as authorities work to uncover the full story behind this alarming attack on one of Bollywood’s most prominent figures.
