Supabase Funding: $150M Round Led by GIC, Turso Deal

Supabase funding reached a new high on Friday, October 2, 2026, when the San Francisco database company announced $500 million Series F.

What Happened

Supabase said CapitalG, Alphabet’s independent growth fund, joined the round alongside IronArc and SquarePeg. The company also confirmed it will acquire Turso, which sells a database architecture built to run very large numbers of small, isolated databases at low cost.

The new money serves two purposes, according to the company. It will speed up product work on databases designed for AI agents. It will also give employees a chance to sell some of their shares.

Supabase did not disclose a valuation for this round. It also gave no financial terms for the Turso acquisition.

Co-founder and chief executive Paul Copplestone described the past year as the fastest growth period in the company’s history. Turso founder Glauber Costa will join Supabase as head of agentic services, together with co-founder Pekka Enberg and the rest of the Turso team.

Why the Supabase Funding Round Matters

Supabase sits at the centre of a shift in how software gets built. AI coding tools now let far more people create apps, and every app needs a backend to store data, manage logins and handle files. Supabase offers that backend on top of open source Postgres.

The company says AI tools and agents increasingly do this work on their own. It reported adding more than one million users and four million databases every month. About 70% of new databases are now created by agents or AI-driven tools. In June, Supabase had reported a 600% year-over-year jump in databases.

Those figures come from the company itself, and Supabase did not publish revenue numbers. Even so, the growth rate offers one clue to why investors keep backing the business.

Key Details

● Round size: $150 million, led by GIC

● Other investors: CapitalG, IronArc and SquarePeg

● Previous round: $10.5 billion post-money valuation, announced about four months earlier

● Acquisition: Turso, which will keep operating while it moves toward the Supabase ecosystem

● Reach: More than 13 million developers; company founded in 2020

● Named Turso customers: Superhuman, Sauna.ai, CTO.new and Mastra

The Supabase platform bundles a Postgres database with authentication, storage, edge functions, real-time subscriptions and vector search. It also runs a marketplace of more than 100 partner tools.

Turso’s design allows on-demand databases for each agent, both in public cloud and in a customer’s own cloud environment. Supabase argues that agent workloads need exactly that kind of scale. In its view, an agent should be able to create a database instantly, without a dedicated machine behind every one.

Broader Context

Supabase’s rise has been quick. An earlier round of $5 billion. The $10.5 billion post-money valuation, roughly double that mark.

Crunchbase News placed the new round in a tie for seventh place on its list of the week’s largest US startup financings, published October 2. Instinct’s $1 billion Series C topped the same list. Crunchbase said the week’s biggest deals were overwhelmingly focused on AI.

Other big rounds that week included EliseAI’s $4 billion valuation, led by Andreessen Horowitz and Bessemer Venture Partners, and General Intuition’s $6.2 billion valuation. GMI Cloud also closed a $445 million in debt financing.

The pattern extends beyond model developers. GPU cloud capacity, optical interconnect technology and physical AI software also featured among the week’s largest rounds. Investors, in other words, are funding the infrastructure layer as well as the AI labs themselves.

What Happens Next

Supabase says the Turso platform will continue to operate, with a clear path into the wider Supabase ecosystem. The company did not give a closing date for the acquisition. It also did not explain how the two products will be combined.

Several questions remain open. The company has not said what valuation the GIC-led round carries, how much employee liquidity it provides, or what Turso cost. Readers should watch for follow-up disclosures on those points, as well as any revenue data.

For now, the announcement confirms that demand for agent-ready databases is attracting large cheques from some of the world’s biggest investors, and that Supabase intends to consolidate its position before competitors catch up.
